Washington St. at Pittsburgh NCAA Basketball Friday
posted 5 years ago

Now that the NFL Picks season and Sweet 16 Betting Odds games are over we move to the

2012 NIT Picks . Another close game is expected when Washington State plays Pitt for the championship of the College Basketball Invitational Championship Series. Washington State won the first game in the best-of-three series by one point; Pitt bounced back to even the series with a four-point
2012 Final Four Picks victory.

The Cougars are waiting see if Brock Motum (18 points, 6.4 rebounds per game), the leading scorer in the Pac 12, can return after spraining his ankle against Oregon State on March 21. Pitt may again be without senior leader Ashton Gibbs (14.6 points), who missed the last game with a right ankle injury and will likely be a game-time decision.

Pitt has won six of its last eight March Madness Picks games and has won 20-plus games in each of the last 11 seasons. Washington State has won five of its last seven.

TV: 7 p.m. ET,. HDNet.

ABOUT WASHINGTON STATE (19-17): The Cougars lost their shooting touch from the first game (51.2 percent) to the second game (43.6 percent) and scored only 20 points in the first half of Wednesday’s tilt in Pittsburgh. They’ll have to do a better job with 3-pointers, too; they hit only 4 of 13 in Game 2. Reggie Moore (10 points per game) had 18 points, 16 in the second half, of Game 2 and tied a CBI record with 40 free throws made in the tournament.

ABOUT PITT (21-17):
Reserve Talib Zanna (6.2 points) has played his best during the CBI. He had scored in double figures only four times entering the tournament, but has tallied 11 or more in four of the Panthers’ five CBI games, including 14 in Game 2. Pitt needs all the offense it can get; it went seven minutes without a basket in the second half. If Gibbs can’t go, Nasir Robinson (10.6 points) will need to step up his scoring; he’s been in double-figures 19 times this season and 40 times in his career.

TIP-INS:

1. Pitt went 6-for-6 at the line in the final 25 seconds of Game 2. Of their 28 second-half points, 13 came from the line.

2. The March Madness Picks series is also close in rebounding, where Pitt holds a 58-53 lead.
