Ace right-hander Josh Johnson and the Marlins were anticipating a mid-July return from right shoulder inflammation before he was dealt another setback that will likely push back his return to August.
With that timetable in mind, Johnson told the Miami Herald he is intent on returning to the mound this season, even if the Marlins are hopelessly out of the playoff MLB Picks race.
- Give Johnson credit for wanting to get back on the mound regardless of the Marlins' circumstances. He is in just the second year of a four-year, $39 million deal, so there is no pressing need to prove he is healthy.
