Minnesota Twins Matt Capps still is going to be the closer?
posted 5 years ago

The 2011 British Open Odds event will be here soon and lines are posted. Also if you want to get into some early action with Horse racing 2011 Breeders' Cup Betting Odds are aviable now. After watching his team squander a seven-run lead Saturday night in a loss to the Brewers, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was taking no chances Sunday, even if it reopened the closer controversy.

Gardenhire pulled Matt Capps with a two-run lead in the ninth inning, and lefthander Glen Perkins fanned Prince Fielder and Casey McGehee to seal the 9-7 MLB Picks victory at Target Field. "Cappy's still our closer," Gardenhire said, knowing full well that Capps was irate at his ouster.

It seemed like an awfully quick hook of Capps, who had an 0.82 ERA in his previous 11 appearance before a rocky outing on Saturday night, The latest saga unfolds as former closer Joe Nathan looks like his old self. Sunday marked the third time in three outings that he delivered a perfect eighth inning.

Capps could end up as valuable trade bait, as Rumor Central's Jason A. Churchill notes last week. The New York Yankees, having lost Joba Chamberlain for the year and are waiting on Rafael Soriano, could have strong interest, as might the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rangers and Brewers also could make good use of Capps. Check out our Latest Sports Picks for this weekend action and MLB Baseball Odds.
