UFC President Dana White has largely kept quiet so far after Nate Marquardt ended his Tuesday appearance on The MMA Hour implying he'd still very much like to fight in the Octagon. As of this writing, White has responded to just one fan on Twitter pleading with him to give Marquardt a second chance. Don;t miss the upcoming event this week UFC 132 Betting is now available.
"It would be his 4th chance!" White replied.
Yeah, so that doesn't seem encouraging. But if not the UFC, where will Marquardt land if and when he is able to resume his MMA career? Manager Lex McMahon said on Tuesday his phone has been "blowing up" with promotions interested in acquiring his client's services. Meanwhile, Bellator welterweight champ Ben Askren not-so-cordially invited Marquardt to come over and get "crushed," also via Twitter.
Marquardt seemed intent on fighting again during his lone public appearance this week, but deciding if he'll continue on with hormone therapy and -- if he does -- getting it cleared with state athletic commissions in the future could be a significant hurdle. Assuming Marquardt is able to return and that Zuffa, LLC properties aren't an option for him, perhaps Askren better be careful what he wishes for, as Bellator could be the best (read: only) spot for Marquardt.
