According to the early Vegas odds for next year’s Stanley Cup, the Vancouver Canucks should not be worried at all about the franchise missing out on it’s second finals’ defeat in the past 20 years. The Canucks have never captured hockey’s ultimate glory before, but after clinching the Presidents trophy and coming within one game of taking home the 2011 Stanley Cup Vegas Odds, Vancouver is the 11/2 odds-on favorite to finish the job in 2012. The Lightning were fortunate to face a Pittsburgh Penguins’ team that was without its best two players in the opening round, and then shut down the Washington Capitals in the second but both are favored ahead of them this year. The Penguins are listed at 9-to-1 with captain Sidney Crosby and superstar Evgeni Malkin set to return, while the notion that Alex Ovechkin and company can’t underachieve in the sports betting bonus postseason forever has the Capitals at 17-to-2. Carey Price is another year more mature as well as a young defense core, and the Canadiens will have the chance to add another scorer with an extra five-million added to the salary cap for the coming season.
