MLB Betting - Red Sox, Phillies Should Battle For World Series Supremacy - While March Madness betting is coming to a close, the MLB betting season is just getting underway as the first pitch will be thrown out in the regular season on Thursday. Here is a look at how we think the season is going to break down, with a pair of powerhouses clashing for the World Series.
Boston made a couple of potentially great moves to get back to the playoffs, signing Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford, but the key to their season will be pitching. Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz will be fine, but either Josh Beckett or Daisuke Matsuzaka has to return to form. Of course, they’ll have to deal with the New York Yankees in the East, and of course Tampa Bay is always lurking. In the Central, Detroit and Chicago has all the tools to overtake Minnesota, but both teams are too inconsistent while the Twins are steady, and they should have Justin Moreau back as well. Meanwhile, baseball betting players would do well to keep their eye on Kansas City, who are amassing an incredible group of young talent. In the West, Texas looks to defend their pennant, but they’ll have to do it without Cliff Lee. Los Angeles looks to reclaim their place atop the West, and this should be one of the most entertaining division races of the season.
All the talk among those watching MLB scores surrounds Philadelphia and their incredible starting rotation, but they’re going to have their hands full with Atlanta in the East. The Central is going to be a blast to watch as Cincinnati looks to prove that last year’s title wasn’t a fluke, St. Louis will have the Albert Pujols contract saga hanging over them, while trying to win without the injured Adam Wainwright. Milwaukee improved their starting rotation and still have a slew of big bats in the lineup, and there’s always the Chicago Cubs. Expect pitching to still rule the West as the Dodgers try to push the defending World Series champions from San Francisco, while San Diego tries to stay above water with Gonzalez now in Boston, and Colorado may be the most dangerous sleeper in all of baseball.
World Series Pick
We’re taking Boston and Philadelphia to come out of their respective leagues in what should be a fantastic series, but we’re picking the Red Sox despite the Phillies’ rotation. We think Boston’s offense is a bit better than Philadelphia’s, and we also trust Jonathan Papelbon as a closer more than Brad Lidge. If Beckett and Dice-K can return to their best, Boston’s rotation is every bit as good as Philadelphia. Go with the Boston Red Sox in your online sportsbook.
