UFC Betting – June 26th, 2011
Kongo (15-6-2) is coming off a draw against Travis Browne at UFC 120, which followed a win over Paul Buentello at a UFC Live event. The French heavyweight fell down the pecking order after losses to Cain Velasquez and Frank Mir, and you could argue that Kongo has given Velasquez, the current heavyweight champion, his toughest fight as he staggered him with a couple of big punches, but he couldn’t put Velasquez away and fell victim to the champ’s wrestling. Kongo is a kickboxer and Muay Thai specialist who hasn’t submitted anyone since 2003, and he is going to use his power to try and end the fight. UFC Odds
That’s a good sign for Barry (6-2), as his two losses in eight career fights have come via submission. Barry also is a kickboxer with a lot of talent and power, and he earned the “Knockout of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” in his win over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 104. Barry is one of the more charismatic fighters in the UFC and we’re sure president Dana White would love to see him get some more publicity as Barry thrives on being in the spotlight, so this fight could be designed to put Barry in a position to move up the ladder.
Betting services will probably have Barry as the favorite in this heavyweight tilt, but he should be very careful around Kongo, because the French fighter is a veteran who will make you pay for mistakes and has the power to do so. We don’t expect this fight to spend much time on the mat because neither of these guys have any mat skills. UFC Predictions We’d probably give the edge in that department to Kongo, but as we said this fight will likely be fought on the feet for most of the time. Kongo is a good fighter, but he never really has been able to get over the edge. Barry has the potential to be great, and he’ll look to prove it when he faces off with Congo.
