MLB names League Championship Series umpires
posted 8 years ago

Major League Baseball has named the two umpiring crews that will officiate the League Championship Series. The National League Championship Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies will begin on Thursday, October 9th at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, while the American League Championship Series featuring the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays will start on Friday, October 10th at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Mike Reilly will serve as the crew chief during the 2008 NLCS. Now in his 32nd year as a Major League Umpire, this marks Reilly's 19th postseason assignment, including his ninth LCS. Reilly's crew will include Mike Winters, regular season crew chief Gary Cederstrom, Jerry Meals, Ted Barrett and Mike Everitt. Tim McClelland, who is in his 27th year as a Major League Umpire, will be the crew chief in the 2008 ALCS, which will be the 17th postseason series of his career, including his eighth LCS. McClelland also worked the plate during this year's American League Central tie-breaker game between the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox. McClelland's crew will feature regular season crew chief Derryl Cousins, Brian Gorman, Brian O'Nora, Alfonso Marquez and Sam Holbrook. The umpire rotations for both League Championship Series appear below. Umpires for the 104th World Series will be announced when assignments have been made.
