The first inning was baseball's way of reminding us that in the postseason, history starts all over in every series.
Manny Ramirez went 3-for-22 in Citizens Bank Park this season, in two visits with the Red Sox and Dodgers. He had no extra-base hits and no RBIs. Naturally, in his first at-bat of the NLCS, he doubled in a run.
Cole Hamels allowed two hits and zero runs in his previous start in this postseason. He allowed two hits and one run just to the first three hitters he faced in the NLCS.
Funny game, isn't it?
